The AMWA Carolinas chapter was founded in 1977 and encompasses all of North and South Carolina. As of June 2008, AMWA Carolinas has 290 members.

The chapter holds its annual conference in May, at the Friday Center on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and draws participants from all over the U.S.

The chapter also holds quarterly meetings that feature a networking session and a speaker who presents a topic of interest to bioscience communicators, which all members are welcome to attend.

Finally, we alternate informal networking lunches with discussion dinners each month in the Research Triangle Park area of NC, for new and old members to meet and share a meal and ideas.

AMWA Carolinas also emails News Alerts to its members (replacing our former newsletter, Carolina Connections), and has a Yahoo! discussion group.
