The AMWA Carolinas Chapter has supported those in the field of biomedical communication since 1977. Our members are located in North and South Carolina, with meetings most often located near Research Triangle Park, NC.
AMWA Objectives
- Bring together people who are interested in any aspect of communication in the sciences and allied health professions.
- Promote standards of excellence in biomedical communication.
- Inform and encourage those committed to improving the quality and effectiveness of biomedical communication.
- Provide educational opportunities that lead to, support, and enhance excellence in biomedical communication.
Regular Chapter Events
- Annual Conference: Our annual conference offers networking opportunities, certificate courses, as well as open sessions that range from industry topics (e.g., eCTD, FDA) to desk yoga.
- Special Events: Occasionally we host an event with a speaker who presents a topic of interest to bioscience communicators. Recently we had a local ER doctor discuss his book and a seminar that provided an introduction to electronic FDA submissions (eCTDs).
- Networking Lunches and Discussion Dinners: These are held on alternate months. Both provide an informal setting in which to meet other members as well as share ideas. They are typically held in the Research Triangle Park area of N.C.
